Gas Certification Institute (GCI), a leader in oil and gas measurement, standard operating procedures, and training, announces the addition of Weldon Wright as General Manager.

Wright brings over 30 years of experience in natural gas measurement, liquid measurement, SCADA, control systems, and operations. He is a proven measurement and business leader who has successfully developed and managed measurement and SCADA teams across the production, midstream, transmission, and public utility sectors.

As General Manager, Wright will lead the expansion of GCI offerings into field operations software to support the measurement operations needs of GCI’s oil and gas customers. Wright has a keen understanding of the interrelationship between measurement disciplines and the complexity of their successful, cost-effective implementation.

“I am thrilled to join GCI at a time when we can create value for oil and gas operators through the implementation of mobile-centric field operations,” says Wright. “I look forward to sharing my experience in implementing technology, balancing expenditures, lean staffing, and regulatory compliance -- while assuring management confidence in measurement accuracy and operations effectiveness.”

Wright is charged with defining the approach to delivering on the GCI mission to optimise the human element of measurement within an operations framework, creating value for companies by supporting their revenue-generating activity.

Prior to joining GCI, Wright was a senior business consultant for Flow-Cal, Inc., a Quorum software company. He was responsible for analysing existing business practices and helped guide clients through complex, fast-paced, and often-sensitive integration of personnel and measurement assets following acquisitions and mergers. Wright also evaluated client software systems, operating procedures, and staffing levels associated with back-office measurement operations to document and advise on opportunities, deficiencies, and risks.

“The addition of Weldon Wright to the GCI team is a significant step forward enabling GCI to assist oil and gas operators to implement cloud-based field operations tools and streamline their field operations,” says Russel Treat, CEO of EnerACT Energy Services, Inc. “Wright’s expertise, combined with the state-of-the-art Muddy Boots Online toolset, will be of great value to GCI and their customers.”
