Colonial Pipeline President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph A. Blount Jr., has been appointed to the National Petroleum Council (NPC) Committee on US Oil and Natural Gas Transportation Infrastructure.

The National Petroleum Council provides advice, information, and recommendations to the US Secretary of Energy on matters relating to oil and natural gas and their associated industries. The NPC’s members represent all sectors of the oil and gas industries and related interests.

“I am honoured to be invited to join the NPC Infrastructure Committee – especially at this critical and opportunistic time – as we advise our country’s leaders on how to continue to provide safe, reliable, environmentally responsible and affordable energy transportation,” said Blount.

The NPC’s Infrastructure Committee is preparing a study addressing how hydrocarbons are currently delivered; expectations for the future; and technology advances to improve health, safety and environmental performance. The study was requested by Secretary of Energy Rick Perry to advise on the changing dynamics of US oil and natural gas transportation. It is expected to be submitted to the Secretary of Energy in 4Q19.

Blount is an energy industry leader with more than 35 years of experience in oil, gas and midstream assets. As President and CEO of Colonial, Blount is carrying forward the company’s legacy of safe and reliable operations, while positioning the organisation for growth and greater service to its customers and end-users.
