Five petroleum product pipelines were completed in the United States in 2024

The EIA has reported that in 2024, pipeline companies completed five pipeline projects to transport petroleum liquids in the United States, according to its recently updated Liquids Pipeline Projects Database. The five projects consisted of three hydrocarbon gas liquid (HGL) pipelines and two petroleum product pipelines.

 
 
 
 

US crude oil exports reached a new record in 2024

US crude oil exports in 2024 surpassed the previous record set in 2023, exceeding an annual average of 4.1 million bpd. Despite this new record, crude oil export year-over-year growth slowed to 1% in 2024, compared with 14% in 2023 and 21% in 2022.

 

Shell to sell interest in Colonial Enterprises Inc. to Brookfield subsidiary

Shell Midstream Operating LLC (SMUS), a subsidiary of Shell plc, has agreed to sell its 16.125% interest in Colonial Enterprises, Inc. to Colossus AcquireCo LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. and its institutional partners, for US$1.45 billion.

 

Williams commissions two Transco projects to meet growing energy demand

Williams has announced the successful commissioning of the Southeast Energy Connector in Alabama and the Texas to Louisiana Energy Pathway along the Gulf Coast. These fully contracted expansions of the existing Transco pipeline were strategically designed and built to reduce land use and minimise community and environmental impact while delivering additional natural gas volumes to the region.

 

Phillips 66 completes acquisition of EPIC NGL

Phillips 66 has announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of EPIC Y-Grade GP, LLC and EPIC Y-Grade, LP, which own various subsidiaries and long-haul natural gas liquids pipelines, fractionation facilities and distribution systems (EPIC NGL) for total cash consideration of approximately US$2.2 billion.
