Spain’s Exolum has kicked off a pilot project in Britain this week to test using existing oil infrastructure to transport and store green hydrogen on a commercial scale, says Reuters.

Mehrer Compression GmbH, a Balingen, Baden-Württemberg-based specialist in products for compressing process gases, and Heidenheim-based technology group Voith have entered a partnership for the marketing and product development of gas compressors for hydrogen applications.

The network is made up of a total of 9040 km of pipelines that are due to go into operation step by step up to 2032.

The 150 km network would aim to connect the industrial port area of Dunkirk to the industrial zones of Ghent and Antwerp.

Sonatrach, Sonelgaz, VNG, Snam, Seacorridor and Verbund Green Hydrogen have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to conduct studies to assess the viability and profitability of an integrated project for the production of green hydrogen in Algeria.

A statutory consultation will run from 14 October until 19 November, 2024, and will include eight in-person consultation events across the project area, along with two online events.

Denmark will postpone the roll-out of a green hydrogen transmission pipeline between western Denmark and northern Germany by three years, says Reuters.

Reuters has reported that Norway's Equinor has scrapped plans to export so-called blue hydrogen to Germany because it is too expensive and there is insufficient demand, a spokesperson for the energy company said.
