The ASME Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, together with ROSEN Group, has announced the opening of the Call for Projects for the 2026 Hermann Rosen Award for Pipeline Innovation. Endowed by the ROSEN Group and awarded annually, the prize recognises emerging innovators whose work has the potential to meaningfully advance pipeline safety, integrity, and performance. The winner will receive a US$25 000 award to support the further development of their idea.

This year’s announcement comes at a special moment for ROSEN as the company marks its 45th anniversary. This milestone reflects four and a half decades of engineering excellence and continued dedication to advancing technology that serves society. The award stands as a testament to that heritage: a bridge between founder Hermann Rosen’s original vision and the innovations that will shape the industry’s future.
“As ROSEN celebrates 45 years of innovation, this award emphasizes our commitment to supporting bold ideas that challenge convention and create measurable impact in pipeline safety and integrity. We look forward to receiving contributions that reflect the same spirit of purpose and ambition that has guided ROSEN since its founding and continues to guide us also into the future,” said ROSEN’s Chief Executive Officer Andreas Opfermann.
Introduced in 2025, the Hermann Rosen Award has become a globally recognised platform for early-career engineers, students, researchers, and innovators driven by the ambition to solve real world challenges. By design, the award welcomes a wide range of ideas, from early concepts to prototypes, that demonstrate technical rigor, relevance, and a clear vision for industry impact.
“Following a successful inaugural year, the ASME Foundation is proud to continue our partnership with ROSEN Group to support the next generation of pipeline innovators,” said Stephanie Viola, executive director of the ASME Foundation and managing director of ASME Philanthropy and Programs. “The Hermann Rosen Award reflects our shared commitment to empowering engineers and students whose ideas can strengthen infrastructure and advance the industry.”
The collaboration between the ASME Foundation and ROSEN Group is founded on a shared belief in the importance of innovation at the interface of expertise, curiosity and diverse perspectives. The award is a joint initiative to amplify emerging voices and support promising ideas in the early stages of development, before they become mainstream practice. “This award provides a unique opportunity for emerging talent to contribute to the global engineering community, shape tomorrow’s standards in pipeline innovation, and create solutions that deliver tangible value for customers worldwide.,” said Erik Cornelissen, Chief Customer Officer of ROSEN.
The Hermann Rosen Award for Pipeline Innovation was created to honour the founder of ROSEN and reflects the principles that have defined ROSEN since its beginnings: technical excellence, an uncompromising commitment to quality, and a deep belief in the power of engineering to make a difference. Hermann Rosen's pioneering work, from advanced inspection technologies to new approaches in integrity management, continues to influence the sector and inspire innovators worldwide.
The award extends this legacy by recognizing individuals and teams who share the same mindset: bold ideas, grounded in engineering expertise, with the potential to move the industry forward.
The Call for Projects is open until 30 June 2026.
