World Pipelines,

Having already begun, Canadians are now able to access the National Energy Board (NEB) pipeline company field inspection reports online, which had been made available from 26 November. This initiative reflects the NEB’s mandate of openness and accountability to Canadians.

NEB inspection reports will be available online within six weeks of the inspection taking place to ensure that information is accurate, informative and translated into both of Canada’s official languages. The reports will include detailed findings, outcomes and any enforcement and compliance action taken by NEB inspection officers. The NEB will not hesitate to take enforcement action if a company is found to be in non-compliance with regulatory requirements.

“The NEB is opening up to be more transparent and to help Canadians better understand what we do every day to ensure pipeline safety,” said NEB Chair and CEO Peter Watson.

Quick facts

  • From 2014 to date, the NEB has issued 17 Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMP’s) totalling CAN$811 300 to companies not in compliance with the Board’s regulations.
