Fotech Solutions, the linear asset monitoring technology expert, is participating in the Pipeline Security Forum (25 - 26 March, Istanbul, Turkey) where it will showcase how advanced detection technologies can protect pipelines against both accidental and malicious damage.

Fotech will be presenting its LivePIPE™ monitoring system that enables real-time detection of threats to oil and gas pipelines using inert fibre optic cables installed near to the pipelines. The system can be configured to notify pipeline operators of specific and significant threats, while actively ignoring activity that is non-threatening to a pipelines’ integrity. Fotech’s Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology is an important preventative technology that helps to maintain the sustainability and profitability of oil transportation.

Chris Shannon, CEO, Fotech Solutions, commented: “Protecting oil and gas pipelines is a high priority due to the potential loss of revenue, danger to local communities and environmental damage that comes with an accident or theft event. Against this backdrop it is becoming even more important for pipeline operators to consider the investment in technologies such as DAS that enable full visibility of the pipeline in real-time. Vibrations caused by acoustic disturbances are translated into real-time alarms that enable a swift and targeted response to incidents on the pipeline, to a greater degree of accuracy than ever before.”

The Pipeline Security Forum 2015 is the event for senior level experts involved in the protection of oil and gas pipeline infrastructure and relevant Governmental bodies to discuss how to overcome the challenges of securing transnational pipelines and implement the latest technology into security planning.Fotech’s spokespeople will be available to demonstrate how the LivePIPE™ solution can protect against malicious attacks and oil siphoning activities.
