World Pipelines,
On 18 January, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda discussed the plans to construct an extension on the Nord Stream pipeline – the expansion project aptly called Nord Stream II – which is set to allow the flow of Russian natural gas to Germany.
Duda stated that the Nord Stream II line is dictated by politics as opposed to economical necessity. He also stated that he believes the project has ‘split’ the EU.
Speaking at a joint briefing in Brussels with European Council President Donald Tusk, Duda commented on the project: "We disagree with this investment. It has nothing to do with economics. It is an investment of a political nature."
Tusk has also stated that he and Duda held a similar stance on the Nord Stream II pipeline expansion project.
