Element makes history with new oil & gas testing laboratory

Element Materials Technology has opened a new materials testing and failure analysis facility in Hengelo, the Netherlands, continuing the company’s strategic long-term investment in the Oil & Gas testing sector.

The new laboratory further strengthens Element’s materials testing and product qualification testing (PQT) capabilities and expands the company’s capacity, particularly within mechanical testing and failure analysis in metal and polymer applications. This significantly increases the number of tests available from the new facility and enables Element to reduce its turnaround times by 20% by serving as a single, trusted testing partner for its clients’ projects.

Rod Martin, Element’s Executive Vice President, Oil & Gas, who attended the opening ceremony on February 10, comments: “Element Hengelo occupies a significant place in the history of Element, with it being the site of the company’s first-ever laboratory, built by Stork in 1912. Our new state-of-the-art facility in Hengelo demonstrates our commitment to continue investing in the future of the Oil & Gas industry. We remain vigilant about current industry forecasts, but our established partnerships with Major clients and ongoing involvement in advanced-stage projects means that our position remains business as usual.”

Rod Martin concludes: “The Hengelo opening event was both a celebration of our heritage and the beginning of another successful chapter in Element’s history.”
