TAPI groundbreaking ceremony to be held next week

Construction of the much-delayed Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline will begin next week, with Paksitani, Indian and Afghan leaders expected to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the US$10 billion project in Ashgabat.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony on 13 December.
India and Pakistan will receive more than 1.3 billion ft3/d of gas from Tapi while Afghanistan will take 0.5 billion ft3/d, Saulat said.
Construction will begin next week in Turkmenistan, some 25 years after the inception of the project.
