Gazprom and Botas sign MOU for pipeline

Russia's Gazprom and Turkey's Botas have signed a memorandum to build an undersea pipeline to Turkey with a capacity of 63 billion m³/y, according to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller.

He said 14 billion m³/y out of the total volume would go to Turkey, equivalent to roughly the volume it currently buys.

Separately, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Turkey was seeking a 15% discount for Russian gas. President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Turkey would get a 6% discount starting next year.

Russia and Turkey have signed eight joint documents on co-operation in various branches of economy as part of President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Turkey.

Gazprom and Turkey’s BOTAS Petroleum Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding while the Russian and Turkish energy ministers put their signatures under the protocol of the 13^th mixed inter-governmental Russian-Turkish commission for trade and economic co-operation.

The Russian Energy Agency of the Russian Energy Ministry and the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources also signed a memorandum of understanding on energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable sources of energy.
