Gassco to operate Knarr Pipeline

Gassco has taken over operatorship of Knarr pipe that will transport rich gas to SEGAL system and St Fergus in Scotland.

Knarr is a gas and oilfield located about 100 km north of Statfjord in the northern part of the North Sea.

"We have had a close collaboration with the field operator BG Norway Ltd throughout the period of preparation for operation of the tube. The next milestone is now finalising the water drain and start gas filling. Startup is expected in the spring of 2015", says Svein Birger Thaule, director of plant operations at Gassco.

Gassco is from 1 March operator of the joint venture Knarr Gas Pipeline Joint Venture which owns the pipe 12 in. Gassco is also responsible for the technical operation pipe. Knarr rich gas pipeline linked to the existing FLAGS pipeline. Technical capacity for Knarr rich gas is 1.7 million m3/d, and the length is 106 km.
