Element Materials Technology has announced that it has launched a new coatings centre of technical excellence at its facility in Amsterdam. The company aims to deliver enhanced services for the power generation and oil and gas industries. Its significant investment will expand capacity in its existing coating testing services for pipelines and field joints. The facility will also add a range of tests for coatings used on offshore and onshore assets.

The company’s newly extended capabilities allow clients to test to a range of global coatings standards (from ISO 20340 to NACE TM104-404), as well as in-demand standards and methodologies that are required by oil and gas majors. The facility’s location delivers testing services from pre-qualification of coatings in research and development phases, through to process/production qualification testing for coatings applications on active projects.

Rod Martin, Element’s Executive Vice President for Oil and Gas, commented: “Element’s long-term strategy in the oil and gas sector has been built on technical leadership to identify and deliver new and critical services for key clients.

“Element Amsterdam becomes our first coatings centre of technical excellence and works with Element Hitchin’s subsea insulation coatings capabilities. Supporting the industry with key services, while leveraging our global platform, Element is able to offer full services for pipeline and marine corrosion clients,” he added.

Element Amsterdam’s capacity for pipe coating testing will include new test capabilities for high-temperature cathodic disbondment (CD) tests.
