General Monitors, a specialist n gas and flame detection technologies, has released a new flame detection video which demonstrates how the FL4000H multi-spectrum infrared (MSIR) flame detector senses and responds to flames that are 210 ft away, as well as its immunity to arc welding.

Senses flames and distinguishes between actual flames and false alarm sources

The FL4000H model is an advanced MSIR flame detector, designed to provide greater false alarm immunity with the widest field of view. Consequently, this detector speedily senses flames from a far distance, monitors them for longer periods of time and prevents nuisance false alarms.

Alongside a neural network technology (NNT) system, a multi-spectral optical IR sensing array is employed. This aims to reliably distinguish between actual flames and the vast majority of false alarm sources, such as arc welding. In addition, the FL4000H can see through the dense smoke produced by diesel, rubber, plastics and lube oil fires.

MSIR/NNT combination is highly immune to false alarms

The NNT flame discrimination system classifies the output signals from the MSIR sensor array as either fire or non-fire. The MSIR/NNT combination is highly immune to false alarms that can be caused by lightning, arc welding, hot objects, and other sources of radiation.
