An introduction to Baker Hughes’ new onshore RTP – ‘Python Pipe’, a portfolio of API 15s qualified reinforced thermoplastic pipes, and a discussion of the many advantages the new technology brings to pipeline projects including upstream, water transport, CCUS and others.
Flexible reinforced thermoplastic pipes (RTP) have many advantages over traditional steel pipelines, including corrosion resistance, faster installation and lower carbon emissivity.
The presentation will outline how the industry has grown and benefited from the adoption of API 15s (qualification of spoolable reinforced plastic line pipe) since the specification was published in March 2006. Key insights on testing for API 15s will be shared, highlighting the impact qualification testing has had on ensuring capable and safe products.
Baker Hughes will also introduce its newly launched API 15s qualified RTP – Python Pipe. An installation case study will be presented showing the benefits RTP can have on multiple projects when compared to steel pipes: increasing time to first oil by up to 60%; decreasing installation and maintenance costs by as much as 20% and 80% respectively; and reducing cradle-to-grave carbon emissions by up to 75%.
A Q&A will follow.
