World Pipelines,

The Swedish Armed Forces are on site to safely and professionally dispose of the munitions object. They have to work under windy conditions, so there is no set timeline when the works will be completed. Nord Stream AG appreciates the professional and prompt assistance by the Swedish Armed Forces.

Transportation through Line 2, closed at inlet as a precautionary measure, will be resumed as soon as the disposal of the object is confirmed. The status will be further updated as details become available.

Recap: piece of munitions found near Nord Stream Pipeline

During routine survey operations as part of annual integrity assessment activities of the Nord Stream Offshore Pipeline System, a piece of munitions was found in close proximity to the Nord Stream Line 2 on 6 November. The location of the object is in the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) approximately 120 km away from the island of Gotland.

The relevant Swedish Authorities (Swedish Coast Guard, Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Swedish Maritime Administration) were informed. The authorities have established a three nautical miles safety zone to minimise any risks, until the object is analysed and removed. Nord Stream has stopped gas transportation through Line 2 for safety reasons.
