DNV GL, an organisation that provides classification, technical assurance, software and independent expert advisory services to oil and gas and energy industries, has released its new DNVGL-RP-G108 cyber security recommendations prepare and response to cyber attacks.
Moreno Carullo, Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Nozomi Networks says, “The DNV GL’s new DNVGL-RP-G108 cyber security recommended practice will prove useful to operators, system integrators and vendors to help them manage and prevent emerging cyber threats in the oil and gas industry.
“The recommendations combined with new initiatives such as the adoption of anomaly detection technology that incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning, will improve the security risk posture of industry.
“It is especially critical to get real-time visibility into these industrial control systems as the latest threat - DragonFly 2.0, has been exploring ICS networks. This knowledge would give attackers access to operational systems which could potentially be used for disruptive purposes.
“Real-time ICS monitoring and detection can identify the presence of DragonFly 2.0 to allow ICS operators to take steps to immediately stop the malware and restore systems.”
