Wasco awarded Nord Stream 2 contract

Wah Seong Corporation Berhad – a subsidiary of Wasco Coatings Europe BV – has announced today, 7 September, that it has signed a contract with Nord Stream 2 AG. The company will provide concrete weight coating, pipe storage and logistics for the Nord Stream 2 project, with the scope of work worth approximately €600 million.
The first pipes will to be delivered to the coating plant in Kotka, Finland, and Mukran between September and October 2016, respectively. Coating operations are expected to commence in early 2017, with completion planned for 3Q19.
“We are extremely proud of the award of this contract as this is another testament of our capabilities and the strength of our brand in the competitive oil and gas industry,” said Giancarlo Maccagno, Group CEO of Wasco Energy Group of Companies.
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline involves two 48 in. pipelines that are approximately 1200 km long. Each pipeline will start in the south-west of St Petersburg, Russia and end at German coast, Greifswald.
