BG International Limited Sucursal Honduras has awarded a contract to Fugro. Under the contract, Furgro will conduct an integrated multibeam echosounder (MBES) survey and seabed coring campaign over its offshore acreage (block) in the Honduran Caribbean, using its MV Fugro Brasilis vessel.
The programme has already begun
Fugro has commenced a two-month mapping and interpretation portion. The MBES and seabed coring programme will cover an area in excess of 10 000 km2 in the north of the Patuca Basin and during this programme, features of interest will be identified and evaluated to generate a set of locations to target for precision geochemical sampling.
Upon completion of this phase, a coring phase will follow, aimed at collecting 200 seabed cores and 15 heat flow measurements.
Providing BG with robust data for future exploration and production work
“This latest geochemical campaign is a cost-effective way to explore frontier areas for hydrocarbon potential and will provide BG with robust data for future exploration and production work,” said Jamshid Gharib, Exploration Manager at Fugro GeoConsulting Inc.
