Sonardyne companies achieve OHSAS 18001 accreditation
Sonardyne International Ltd. is pleased to announce that two of its subsidiary companies, Sonardyne Brasil Ltda and Sonardyne Asia Pte Ltd, have been awarded OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System Standard accreditation following audits of its sites in Rio das Ostras and Singapore. These are the first in the Sonardyne group of companies to formally demonstrate their commitment to health and safety in the workplace by applying for and achieving this certification.
The Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) sets out the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management for best practice in the workplace. It is internationally accepted as a method of assessing and auditing occupational health and safety management systems. Developed by leading trade and international standards bodies, OHSAS 18001 provides a framework for organisations to instigate proper and effective management of health and safety in the workplace.
“Gaining OHSAS 18001 certification demonstrates both Sonardyne Brasil’s and Sonardyne Asia’s commitment to maintaining an effective health and safety culture for their employees,” said John Ramsden, Sonardyne’s Managing Director.
“Not only will this benefit us but it will also benefit our commercial partners by minimising the risk of incidents and accidents occurring as we conduct our business operations. Now that our operations in Brasil and Singapore are OHSAS 18001 certified, our focus is now on achieving accreditation for our Houston and UK headquarters sites.”
