World Pipelines,
Iran is set to construct its second oil export terminal in Jask island, located in the Sea of Oman. The facility will be in addition to the country’s first export terminal in Kharg Island, situated around 25 km off the coast of Iran, which extends Iranian territorial sea claims into the Persian Gulf oil fields.
Akbar Torkan, the Secretary of Iran's Free Trade Zones Coordination Council, told local press that a 2220 km pipeline transfers Iranian crude oil to the Sea of Oman shores, making Jask Island an ideal location for oil storage and export facilities.
In May 2013, Pirouz Mousavi, Managing Director of the Iranian Oil Terminal Company, said that four oil storage facilities are under currently under construction on Kharg Island and that the oil storage capacity could reach 28 million bbls. Construction planning for the storage units began in January 2011. The new facilities, which cost around US$ 34.25 million, are expected to come onstream in approximately 36 months.
