Slovak gas transmission system operator Eustream is progressing in the implementation of its long term strategic plans to secure gas infrastructure interconnections with Hungary and Poland.

The new interconnection point Budince with Ukraine is also on track, as envisaged in the Memorandum of Understanding with Ukrtransgaz.

Projects to form part of North-South gas corridor

Eustream is successfully progressing in the implementation of its planned investment projects, which will form a vital part of the proposed North-South Gas Corridor as envisaged and supported by the European Union.

Hungary

The interconnection project with Hungary – connecting the compressor station in Velke Zlievce with Hungarian Vecses, aiming to secure capacity in the direction of Hungary of up to 12 million m3/d – is fully completed on the Slovak side. Presently, Eustream is awaiting finalisation of works at the Hungarian side with the aim to start joint testing operations as per 1 September, 2014.

Poland and Slovakia

The Polish-Slovak Interconnector – which is on the priority EU PCI list and forms part of European Energy Security Strategy – is in the preparatory phase. Eustream, together with its partner Gaz-System, is submitting the CEF application and securing documentation required for the construction commencement. It is envisaged that the project could be operational in 2018. Eustream also welcomes that the project also enjoys support of both countries‘ presidents.

Slovakia and Ukraine

In line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Eustream and Ukrtransgaz on April, 28 2014 and recent successful Open Season procedure, Eustream is continuing the construction works on Vojany pipeline. The project is on track and the contracted booked capacity shall be ready for the shippers on 1 September, 2014 with pre-commissioning testing towards the end of August 2014.
