NEXUS files pipeline application

NEXUS Gas Transmission has formally appealed to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for approval of its proposed 255 mile, 36 in. dia. natural gas pipeline. The pipeline would pass through Ohio into Michigan and Canada. The pipeline would carry 1.5 billion ft3/d and, if approval is granted, has an anticipated operating date of November 2017.
In its application, the company is seeking a ‘Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity’, and has stated that the pipeline would create approximately 6000 jobs as well as US$2 billion in capital investment.
Potential customers include suppliers based in Columbiana, Wayne, Erie, Sandusky, Lucas, and Medina counties.
As reported by The Chronicle-Telegram Online, NEXUS spokesman Arthur Diestel commented that in the future a tap would be constructed in Lorain County for NRG to use in supplying the Avon Lake power plant with natural gas.
