Genesis awarded subsea FEED contract for Kudu in Namibia

World Pipelines,

Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants Ltd announced that it has been awarded the subsea front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the prestigious Kudu Gas to Power project.

Kudu project specifics

This gas field is located offshore Namibia, at a water depth of 170 m. The development concept is for three subsea wells tied back to a floating production system.

Gas is processed offshore to the required specification for export, via a 170 km pipeline, to an onshore power station at Uubvlei.

Project scope

Tullow Oil plc is the operator for the project including the operation of the gas facilities offshore and onshore up to the battery limits of the power plant.

Genesis’ scope will include front-end engineering design of flowlines, risers, subsea structures (including subsea isolation valves - SSIV), controls, umbilicals, the export pipeline and a beach valve station.

John Cambridge, Managing Director of Genesis, stated: “This is an excellent example of the integrated projects that Genesis can deliver as all of the business units will be supporting this project.”

Scheduling

The FEED is scheduled to be completed by mid 2013.
