World Pipelines,
The Energy Institute (EI) has released five new publications to further support effective process safety management across the energy sector and allied industries.
Process safety management (PSM) is vital in ensuring the safe and continued operations in major accident hazard organisations. Previous incidents have shown that a holistic understanding of the many factors of PSM is required to effectively ensure and measure safety performance.
In 2010, the EI published its High level framework for process safety management (PSM framework). This framework focuses on defining what good PSM should involve and reports on industry good practice, providing a consistent and effective approach to process safety management. Following on from this, the EI has issued a series of guidance documents that look at each topic more closely.?There are 20 elements within the PSM framework. The most recent five that have been released cover:
- Management of change and project management.
- Emergency preparedness.
- Management of safety critical devices.
- Inspection and maintenance.
- Incident reporting and investigation.
These guidelines cover each subject in greater detail, providing practical, step-by-step guidance and additional resources to implementing each element. The publications are free to download.
