Lincoln Electric announces new President of automation

The Lincoln Electric Company, a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc., announced yesterday the promotion of Steven B. Hedlund to Senior Vice President and President, Global Automation, effective immediately.

Mr. Hedlund previously served the Company as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development.

The new role expands executive leadership of Lincoln Electric’s global automation initiative, which is a key growth program in the Company’s ‘2020 Vision and Strategy’ targeting accelerated growth in sales, profitability and returns by 2020. Today, Lincoln Electric’s global automation offering represents the industry’s broadest portfolio of automated arc welding and cutting solutions. The initiative is focused on achieving US$500 million in revenue by 2020.

As President, Mr. Hedlund will oversee the implementation of all strategic, operational and commercial aspects of the global automation organisation.

Over the last four years, Steve has led a disciplined acquisition program which doubled our automation portfolio, and I am confident that he will successfully lead the global automation organisation through its next phase of growth and development.”

Mr. Hedlund joined Lincoln in 2008 as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development where he led Lincoln’s strategic planning and acquisitions programs, and in 2014 was promoted to Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Previously, he was with Fortune Brands, Inc. and at Booz Allen & Hamilton. Mr. Hedlund earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Dartmouth College.
