It was highlighted that Gazprom, jointly with its foreign partners, resolved to construct a new export gas pipeline – Nord Stream II. It is necessary to develop the northern corridor of the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia in order to secure gas supplies into this gas pipeline.
Constructing the pipeline
The construction of the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 gas main is a top priority of this work. Its length will be nearly 970 km, design capacity – 45 billion m3/y of gas. As of today, the detailed design documentation for the linear section is developed. Forest-clearing started along the gas main route. The results of bidding competitions for the construction of the first five sections (over 500 km in length) will be announced very soon.
Eight gas compressor stations with an aggregate capacity of 689 MW are planned to be built along the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 gas pipeline route.
Alexey Miller comments
“Gazprom takes extensive efforts within the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 project. Tasks have been assigned and deadlines have been set. The gas pipeline will be built and completed by the 2019 end. This also pertains to the rest of the gas transmission facilities located along Bovanenkovo to Nord Stream II.”
