FERC: Energy Infrastructure Update for August 2014

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released its Energy Infrastructure Update for August 2014. The report notes that one natural gas pipeline project (total capacity: 100 million ft3/d) was proposed in August 2014, while three were certificated (total length: 6.6 miles; total capacity 324.7 million ft3/d) and two were placed in service (total length: 16 miles; total capacity 80 million ft3/d).

Natural gas highlights

  • WBI Energy placed its Garden Creek II Pipeline Project into service, which will provide 75 million ft3/d of capacity from the tailgate of the Garden Creek II plant to an interconnection with Northern Border in McKenzie County, ND.
  • TransCanada Alaska filed a letter with the Commission terminating the pre-filing review process of its Alaska Pipeline Project, which would have provided 4.5 billion ft3/d of capacity to the lower US.
  • Columbia Gas received authorisation to construct and operate its Line 1655 North Project, which will improve the reliability and safety of Line 1655 in Adams County, PA, and provide 15.7 million ft3/d of capacity for one shipper.
  • Transco received authorisation to construct and operate its Woodbridge Delivery Lateral Project, which will provide 264 million ft3/d of capacity to the Woodbridge Energy Center’s proposed electric generation facility in Woodbridge, NJ.
  • Southeast Supply Header received authorisation to construct and operate its SESH Expansion Project. This project will provide 45 million ft3/d of additional mainline capacity between Delhi, LA, and Coden, AL.
  • Downeast LNG and Downeast Pipeline commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate an LNG export terminal (450 million ft3/d) in Robbinston, ME, and pipeline facilities to provide an additional 100 million ft3/d of bi-directional capacity on Downeast Pipeline’s proposed system to serve the proposed terminal.
