CFE commences tender process for pipeline projects
As part of the National Infrastructure Programme 2014-2018, announced earlier this year by the President of the Republic Enrique Peña Nieto, Mexico’s national power company CFE has begun a bidding process for five tender projects. The projects include two natural gas pipelines, two thermoelectric plants and a transmission project, all near Mexico's northern border with the US.
Energy Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Electricity Commission, Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, and the Director General of the CFE, Enrique Ochoa Reza, announced the start of the bidding process for the five projects, representing a total approximate investment of US$ 2.8 billion dollars.
During the official launch, Enrique Ochoa Reza stated that these five projects are part of the Natural Infrastructure Programme, which is aimed at boosting economic growth and natural gas imports from the US. Pedro Joaquin Coldwell indicated that these projects strengthen the availability of energy resources in the north.
