According to local press reports, Odebrecht is planning to construct its new Peruvian natural gas pipeline by 2018, approximately 14 months ahead of schedule. The company is now in talks with global banks regarding financing for the project. "The whole project will likely be finished in December of 2017," said Jorge Barata, Executive Director of Odebrecht Latinvest, the company's investment unit for Latin America.

In June 2014, Peruvian authorities awarded Odebrecht and Enagas SA the rights to build the pipeline across the southern part of the country. The companies will lay more than 1000 km (622 miles) of pipe from the Camisea gas fields in the jungle, over the Andes, to power plants planned for the Pacific coast. The new pipeline is set to boost Peru’s economy and help to develop the petrochemicals industry in the southern part of the country.
