Medallion Pipeline Company, LLC (Medallion), a subsidiary of Medallion Midstream LLC, has announced a binding open season to solicit long term commitments from shippers for firm transportation capacity on the Santa Rita expansion and the Howard expansion, collectively referred to as the ‘expansion project’.
The expansion project consists of two new crude oil pipeline projects to expand and extend the geographic reach of the existing Medallion Pipeline system.
The Santa Rita expansion consists of a proposed new 18.4 mile pipeline, with a capacity of approximately 20 000 bpd. It will extend in a northward direction from a point of interconnection on Medallion’s existing Santa Rita Lateral in Reagan County, Texas to a point of interconnection on Medallion’s existing Midkiff Lateral in Glasscock County. Medallion also proposes to expand the capacity of the Santa Rita Lateral by 20 000 bpd and reconfigure the system so that it will be capable of bi-directional operations, allowing for deliveries to either the Reagan Station Interconnect with the Reagan gathering extension or to the Santa Rita-Midkiff interconnect.
The Howard expansion consists of a proposed 15 000 bpd expansion of Medallion’s existing Howard Lateral and a new pipeline extending approximately 15 miles from the existing Howard Lateral to the northwest quarter of Howard County near the Martin, Dawson, and Borden County lines.
The open season provides an opportunity for interested shippers to acquire long term firm capacity, under minimum 10 year term transportation service agreements and other eligibility requirements, as a committed firm shipper on the expansion project. The expansion project is expected to commence full commercial operations in the second quarter of 2017.
The open season begins on Tuesday 17 January 2017 and ends at 5:00 pm central standard time on Wednesday 8 February 2017; all bids must be submitted to Medallion during the open season period. Bona fide prospective Shippers may obtain copies of the transportation service agreement, as well as the proposed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Texas Railroad Commission Tariffs (confidential open season documents) by contacting the Medallion representative listed below. Medallion requires a prospective shipper to execute a confidentiality agreement prior to delivery of these documents.

When the tanks are full, the liquefied carbon dioxide will be loaded onto a dedicated carrier from Royal Wagenborg and shipped to the INEOS Nini platform in the Danish North Sea. From there, it will be safely injected via pipeline into subsurface reservoirs approximately 1800 m beneath the seabed for permanent storage.
