AFPM testifies in support of Northern Route Approval Act
The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) President, Charles T. Drevna, has testified before the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources in order to lend support to the Northern Route Approval Act (NoRA).
If approved, the NoRA would elimate the requirement that Keystone XL receive a presidential permit, removing remaining obstacles to the commencement of construction.
Drevna petitioned that permitting construction of Keystone XL would increase US energy security by reducing the nation’s reliance on foreign oil. Furthermore, the pipeline stands to increase tax revenues, and provide significant job growth.
Keystone XL has been reviewed extensively since 2008, and has been found to have no significant environmental impacts.
Hence, the benefits must be considered convincing. The AFPM has urged that the Keystone XL pipeline project be approved.
