World Pipelines,
A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Vasile Botnari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moldovagaz, took place at the Gazprom headquarters on 14 March.
The parties discussed the ongoing and future activities of Moldovagaz and co-operation between the companies. Specifically, the meeting addressed Russian natural gas supplies to and gas transit across Moldova, such as via trunklines and pipes.
Moldovagaz is a joint Russian-Moldovan company set up by Gazprom, the Moldovan Government, and the Ministry of Industry of Transnistria.
The Republic of Moldova does not have its own proven gas reserves and meets its gas needs by importing natural gas from Russia. In 2016, consumers in the Republic of Moldova received some 3 billion m3 of Russian gas.
The contracts for gas supplies to and gas transit across Moldova signed by Gazprom and Moldovagaz are valid until the end of 2019.
