API applauds bipartisan passage of customs reauthorisation

API applauded the bipartisan passage of H.R. 644, Conference Report to Accompany the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, which is also known as customs reauthorisation:

“Free trade is critically important to the oil and natural gas industry and the passage of customs reauthorisation will help streamline trade and harmonise transportation of US commerce across our Northern and Southern borders,” said API Senior Director of Federal Relations Khary Cauthen. “Our industry has fought for free trade of for a long time. With the recent lifting of the ban on crude exports along with customs reauthorisation, our economy can begin to recognise the gains made in this sector.”

The bipartisan leadership of the Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees, along with the specific efforts on duty drawback and residue from Reps. Boustany (R-La.), Marchant (R-Texas), Kind (D-Wis.), and Sens. Coats (R-Ind.), Heitkamp (D-N.D.), and many others will assure the US will be second to none in leading the world in free and open energy commerce, according to API.
