Sloth causes pipeline shutdown in Peru

A gas pipeline in the Peruvian Amazon was shut down recently due to a sloth accidentally turning a valve and halting the flow.

Employees at the station were unable to interfere and remove the sloth from the site, as the company has strict regulations about wildlife. As a result, the pipeline activity was halted until the sloth finally departed a while later.

A video of the sloth's activities on the pipeline site can be seen here.

The video was recorded onsite in late June, which shows the sloth dangling by its legs a mere few feet from a guard rail before turning the valve with its arms.
