OMS CEO up for First Women Awards

Denise Smiles, CEO of Optical Metrology Services (OMS), has been announced as a finalist in this year’s First Women Awards. Shortlisted in the engineering category, Denise is one of six women who have been recognised for their contribution to the industry.
The First Women Awards, set up by Real Business magazine and the CBI, celebrate the achievements of senior professional women in industry. Each category winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on 11 June 2015.
Denise has been recognised for her impact on the OMS business, a specialist technology company based in Stansted. The company supplies pipe inspection and measurement services to industries worldwide. In particular, Denise was selected for her support of young talent, increasing turnover tenfold, overseeing the set-up of overseas offices in Houston and Brazil and the company being awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category twice.Denise Smiles comments: “Being shortlisted in the First Women Awards is a huge accolade and one I’m very proud of. It’s also a testament to the whole team at OMS, as the business wouldn’t be where it is today without everyone’s innovation and hard work.”
