TransCanada’s preparation
TransCanada Corp. – whose Keystone XL pipeline project has sparked controversy between Canada and the US – has begun planning its response to a rejection from President Obama.
A predetermined rejection?
TransCanada’s wishful thinking that Obama will approve the project has begun to waver; rejection is looming over them due to the signals publicly and privately given by the White House.
Arguments from the opposing sides
Supporters believe the pipeline would create permanent construction jobs in America, in addition to maintenance and safety operations.
On the other hand, Obama and others against the pipeline have focused on the argument of climate change; how pipeline approvals are not a way of stopping it, but a method of making the change worse.
Consequently, a decision has yet to be made.
