NEB launches public consultation

World Pipelines,
The National Energy Board (NEB) has launched a 30 day public consultation – which is open to all Canadians – that will solicit input into a draft Board Order, which will direct pipeline companies to publish their emergency management programmes by 31 March 2017.
Emergency response transparency is a key priority for the NEB. This consultation initiative follows an April Board Order (MO-006-2016), which directed companies to post emergency procedures manuals online by 30 September 2016.
Under legislation, NEB-regulated companies are required to have emergency management programmes in place to anticipate, prevent, manage and mitigate emergencies. The NEB will not hesitate to take enforcement action should a company fail to adhere to regulatory requirements.
