NiSource Midstream Services and Range Resources have donated US$ 6000 to Southwest Training Services, Inc., to aid in the funding of career awareness and gas industry related information for young adults in southwestern Pennsylvania. The presentation took place at the Southwest Training Services headquarters and was attended by representatives of Range Resources, NiSource Midstream Services, local business leaders and elected officials.

Lisa Neil, President of Southwest Training Services, was on hand to accept the contribution. She said that the funds would be used for various career awareness programmes, including industry-related camps and industry tours for youth ages 14 - 21. "Our mission is to provide as much career awareness and industry-related information as we can so that the younger generation can make informed decisions regarding future career goals. The oil and gas industry has provided a great economic benefit to the area, and we want our children to understand the tremendous opportunities that exist as a result of natural gas production."

NiSource Midstream is in the process of working with Range Resources on the East Washington Project, a natural gas gathering system that will comprise approximately 20 miles of field gathering pipelines to gather local wellhead production through Washington County, Pa. (North and South Strabane Townships), to feed into a nearby Columbia Gas Transmission Line. Construction on the gathering system is expected to begin in Q1 2015.

Steve Warnick, Senior Vice President of Commercial Services for NiSource Midstream, emphasised the importance of giving back to local communities. "At NiSource, we have been a part of the Washington County community for over a century through our Columbia Gas companies, and we consider the areas where we build and work our home. We are especially pleased to support the younger generation in an effort to foster their education, and we are happy to be able to give back to Washington County and its youth."

"Range is proud to have pioneered the development of the Marcellus Shale a decade ago, which is now the largest producing gas field in the nation," said John Applegath, Senior Vice President of Southern Marcellus Shale for Range Resources. "We believe that we're only still scratching the surface of the potential for this tremendous opportunity as we continue to grow here in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Southwest Training has done an incredible job over the years creating opportunities for area workers that match the needs of our growing industry and we're proud to continue working with them to create opportunities for area workers for many years to come."

Pennsylvania State Senator Tim Solobay attended the presentation and said that he believes that the responsible development of the oil and gas industry in the region will be a key driver in workforce development in the area. "The natural gas industry continues to support economic growth in our area. What's more, the industry is bringing jobs back to Pennsylvania. We are delighted that companies like Range Resource and NiSource Midstream continue to provide good-paying jobs to the current and future workforce of Southwestern Pennsylvania."
