New natural gas pipeline for Mississippi

World Pipelines,

Southcross Energy is constructing an 8 mile, 12 in. diameter natural gas pipeline in Jones County, Mississippi. The new pipeline will connect Southcross’ existing system with the Southeast Supply Header (SESH) pipeline system. The interconnect will augment Southcross’ gas supply and enable the company to provide expanded service to its customers in the region, including the South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA), an electric generation and transmission cooperative. The new pipeline is scheduled to be operational in April 2011.

Southcross operates the largest intrastate natural gas pipeline system in Mississippi, which includes 640 miles of transmission and gathering pipelines.

SESH links the onshore gas supply basins of East Texas and Northern Louisiana to Southeast markets. The 274 mile pipeline has a capacity of 1 billion ft3/d of natural gas.
