Hydratight introduces new tool to its RSL torque wrench product line

World Pipelines,
Hydratight has introduced a new accessory for its RSL™ torque wrench product line. The product is designed to increase safety and minimise the possibility of pinching during bolting operations.
The Safe T™ is designed to allow a single person to operate the wrench and its hydraulic pump simultaneously. The tool consists of a control panel with two main operational buttons, which must be pressed at the same time, to ensure safe operation.
When the operator’s hands are released, the torque wrench and hydraulic pump will cease operation immediately.
Typically, one technician would operate the torque wrench while another would control the hydraulic pump. With the Safe T, any chance of miscommunication in a noisy environment is eliminated, thus improving the safety of the operation.
Chad Brooks, Product Market Leader at Hydratight, said: “Our customers identified pinch points in their work processes and we’re pleased that this tool addresses these important safety concerns. We’ve designed versions for use with electric and air pumps, and the low profile design option will work with hex wrenches in tight spots.
“We’ve used a lightweight, durable aluminium housing and large diameter buttons for ease of use by a single technician. Both the RSL20 and RSL30 models have built in loops for lifting straps also. We’ve thoroughly tested the Safe T and it is ready for use.”
