Synodon re-signs oilsands pipeline service contract

World Pipelines,

Synodon Inc. has announced that it will continue providing pipeline integrity management for oilsands pipelines in Canada.

Suncor Energy has extended its realSens™ airborne pipeline integrity management services contract for an additional year.

New contract

During the term of the contract, Synodon will be responsible for surveying all natural gas and liquid hydrocarbon pipelines between Edmonton and Northern Alberta oilsands production fields.

Adrian Banica, Synodon CEO said, "We are very pleased to not only continue but expand the services we provide to Suncor for both their natural gas and liquid pipelines. We look forward to continuing to work with Suncor."

Remote gas sensing system

The technology is an advanced airborne remote gas sensing system called realSens™, based on technologies developed under the Canadian Space Program and by Synodon scientists. The company provides a full service gas emissions monitoring and quantification service to a variety of industries, including hydrocarbon (oil and gas), environmental and agricultural, and for a variety of gases including methane, ethane and ammonia.

Suncor Energy

Canada's biggest energy firm Suncor Energy Inc. was recently forced to trim production temporarily from its oilsands operation in Fort McMurray, Alberta, an area that has been massively affected by floods.

The natural calamity forced Canadian pipeline operator, Enbridge Inc. to shut two lines of the Enbridge pipeline system in the Fort McMurray region as a preventive measure. Consequently, Suncor had to decrease output as it was not possible for the company to carry crude oil away from the region. The lines have now been reopened.
