Gaz-System and Energinet, the gas transport operators in Poland and Denmark respectively, have both taken a decision to invest in the Baltic Pipe development.

This project comprises laying a pipeline spur from Norway to Denmark, reinforcing the Danish gas infrastructure, and laying a pipeline to link Denmark and Poland.

On behalf of Energinet, Gassco has studied connecting the spur to run from the Europipe II pipeline to Denmark. It will also be responsible for this tie-in.

“A spur to Denmark will open a new landfall for Norwegian gas and thereby lay the basis for direct deliveries to new markets,” says Øystein Rossebø, Vice President for development and innovation at Gassco.

“Our most important concern in this process is to safeguard the integrity of Norway’s entire gas transport system.”

According to Gaz-System and Energinet, the Baltic Pipe project will be completed in 2022.
