Oilex Ltd completes Cambay-77H production test
Oilex Ltd is pleased to announce the completion of the Cambay-77H production test on 29 November 2014. The instrumentation deployed downhole to record pressure data for the duration of the test has been successfully recovered. The downloaded data has been sent to RISC, a specialist oil and gas consulting company, for analysis.
The test was designed and executed to acquire long-term performance data which is essential for assessment of reservoir properties and will supplement surface data collected during flowback. A five-day shut-in period preceded the test to allow the well to stabilise after ~85 days of flowback production.
Formal test
The two distinct sections of the formal test are now complete:
- 300 hour (12.5 days) flow period, where the well was flowed on a constant choke size after achieving stable flow soon after opening.
- 300 hour shut-in period, where data continued to be recorded and monitored.
Oilex intends to announce the flowback and test results after a preliminary analysis of the data has been completed.
Managing Director of Oilex, Ron Miller, said, “Completion of the Cambay-77H production test and successful retrieval of the downhole data is very pleasing. The production test is now complete and we look forward to the preliminary analysis of all acquired data.”
Cambay field
Located in the prolific Cambay Basin, the Cambay asset is the most significant component of the company’s portfolio, covering 161 km2 (~40 000 acres) in Gujarat State, the industrial heartland of India.
The geology in the Cambay Asset is proven to contain hydrocarbons and has a prospective section of 2800 m. A significant 36 wells have penetrating the Eocene Formation, a tight silt stone section with 16 vertical wells testing oil and gas to surface. The contract area is covered by a high quality 3D seismic survey acquired by Oilex in 2007. The company is committed to implementing proven North American technology to achieve commercial production from the Eocene Formation.

When the tanks are full, the liquefied carbon dioxide will be loaded onto a dedicated carrier from Royal Wagenborg and shipped to the INEOS Nini platform in the Danish North Sea.
