Global mechanical seals manufacturer AESSEAL has launched an innovative software platform, after a four-year partnership with software developer Audacia to reform its legacy systems.

The software platform will be used exclusively by Rotherham-based AESSEAL – which employs 1700 people across 104 countries and has annual sales of £160 millon – for global knowledge management, data warehousing, sales and marketing.

The knowledge management solution is built upon three core modules which allow AESSEAL to intelligently map customer sites, collate rich data from sealing maintenance operations and gain competitive advantages in producing evidence-based proposals for bespoke product and service offerings.

Leeds-based Audacia, which specialises in developing problem-solving technology for complex business critical projects, developed the bespoke software platform iteratively, aggregating modules developed throughout the partnership.

AESSEAL Group IT Director, Stuart Welsh, said: “Working with Audacia was a collaborative two-way process and the level of communication throughout the development of our knowledge management solution was fantastic. The platform has had a significant impact on our business efficiency, across all functions and on a global scale.

“Our ability to respond to customer inquiries has massively increased and the resource required is substantially reduced. We've always been good at this, but the new platform allows us to be absolutely excellent at it.”

The software platform enables engineering and sales teams to produce bespoke proposals while onsite with customers, reducing lead times from hours to minutes. It has also helped one of AESSEAL’s customers standardise its seals, drastically reducing spare component stock.

Philip White, Managing Director of Audacia, said: “We pride ourselves on building strong long-lasting partnerships with clients to understand their business, and then providing a powerful combination of innovative software and reliable solutions.

“For many complex global businesses, upgrading and integrating legacy systems is a daunting task, so it’s vital they have the right technology partner to solve those problems and ultimately create commercial advantage.”

Founded in 2010, Audacia enables its customers to improve operational efficiencies, increase competitive advantage and realise the commercial benefits of innovative technologies, including virtual reality and machine learning.

Its clients include British Gypsum, Story Homes, Europcar and other companies in the manufacturing, housebuilding and agricultural sectors.

In 2017, the Microsoft Gold Partner doubled its headcount to 32, moved into larger office space on The Calls and opened an office in central London.
