Aberdeen-based STL provides pioneering subsea equipment and technical advisory services, from concept development and design engineering to project management and operations support.
The company has a proven track record of providing its customers with high-quality products that solve subsea, well access and pressure containment challenges.
The latest scope of work awarded will see STL deliver a range of well intervention equipment, including three Stackable Lightweight Intervention Connectors (SLICs) and seven male mandrels, of which four will be configured as full-bore mandrels and two as test/lift caps with one spare.
The connectors are fully populated with STL’s recently developed range of subsea hydraulic couplers in a range of sizes, and the scope also includes two SLIC deck test stands which enable full function and pressure testing of connected equipment on deck.
Drummond Lawson, Managing Director at STL, said: “We are pleased to have been awarded this major contract which we have worked hard to secure over a number of months.
“As well as being a testament to our highly skilled team and our commitment to high quality delivery, it underpins our confidence in the sector that there are still opportunities for proactive companies with the right approach.
“We are confident in our ability to add value to our clients’ operations, and manufacture robust and reliable products which improve productivity and efficiency levels for the global subsea sector.
“Our products are not only adaptable on the day they are purchased, but throughout their lifetime – maximising value and return on investment for our clients. We look forward to working with our customer to deliver over the course of this project and beyond.”
The SLIC technology is a modular and flexible subsea solution that features ‘plug and play’ connectivity, creating a robust, reliable connection point into well access systems.
As a latch-style connector for Riserless Subsea Well Intervention (RLWI), the technology improves safety, offers increased reliability, ease of maintenance and redundancy.
The SLIC takes into account the complexities of not only the physical and statutory, but also the operational and contractual environment in which it operates to ‘optimise through-life results’ for the user.
Dave McKay, Technical Director at STL, said: “At STL, we consider all factors associated with operating in the field and keep this is mind when designing and delivering products.
“This is integral to our product design where we incorporate critical elements that mitigate risk and reduce downtime wherever possible – not only for our direct client but also for the end customer who receives the service delivered by our client using our products.
“This ultimately maximises operational efficiency for the end user while maximising revenue protection and return on investment for our customer – all whilst maintaining safety and ease of use for offshore personnel.”
STL’s range of innovations, including the patented, industry-first XR Connector, have been developed to overcome the challenges posed by maintaining efficient operations in the most demanding offshore environments.
Working specifically in the well intervention, well control, well abandonment and well construction markets, its market-leading connectors and turnkey systems provide the optimal well access solutions for clients.
