Quorum Software, a global software leader dedicated to the energy industry, has announced that Civitas Resources – Colorado’s largest pure-play energy producer – has selected Quorum’s measurement software applications, FLOWCAL and TESTit, to streamline their data management review and validation processes, improve their data collection system, comply with regulations, and meet the needs of a rapidly expanding business.

The expanded merger of five long-standing Colorado oil and natural gas peer companies created Civitas. This strategic combination brought together decades of operational expertise and best practices along the Denver-Julesburg Basin, a long-lived abundant energy source in Colorado, first discovered in 1970. Civitas is Colorado’s first carbon neutral energy producer. With a quickly expanding business, Civitas needed a solution that could meet their immediate needs and scale. Quorum’s measurement software suite allowed the company to increase operational efficiency and reduce data management complexity.

“As a result of five acquisitions married under the Civitas brand, there was a pressing need to consolidate each company’s data collection system into one comprehensive solution that could handle it all,” said Tony Walton, Measurement Foreman, Civitas Resources. “Before Quorum, we faced challenges collecting and consolidating the data of our combined assets that allow numerous groups, such as production accounting, operations, or finance, to easily access and review. With Quorum, we were able to eliminate this challenge through the integration of FLOWCAL and TESTit. Not only are these applications extremely well-respected in the industry, but they are also streamlined and straightforward to use. These applications enable our teams to overcome our challenge of compiling data into a single source of truth for all departments to access.” Walton further shared that TESTit allowed his field staff of 30 technicians to establish uniformity in data collection with streamlined, easy-to-use forms and automated reporting.

Civitas selected FLOWCAL and TESTit to replace its previous SCADA-based measurement system by performing a competitive analysis led by the company’s department heads and senior leadership. Ultimately, Civitas moved forward with Quorum’s measurement suite due to their extensive tool set, which includes robust system balancing, automated exception identification and resolution, and scheduled reporting capabilities. Quorum’s solutions gave Civitas what they needed to reduce the burden on their team and ensure confidence that the system will support their growth and new assets.

“Our vision is to support the global energy ecosystem with decision-ready data and integrated workflows from the field to office, which is crucial for their growth,” said Tyson Greer, Chief Products Officer, Quorum Software. “FLOWCAL and TESTit will empower Civitas to meet growing demands and innovate, as they lead Colorado’s transition to a low-carbon future.”

With over 250 configurable validation set points, FLOWCAL is relied on by over 80% of North American midstream operators, and has over 20 years of experience exceeding oil and gas measurement needs. TESTit is the industry leading solution for technicians to schedule and manage measurement specific tasks such as meter inspections, sampling, and certifications. FLOWCAL and TESTit provide the industry with off-the-shelf solutions that ensure compliance with industry regulations such as the BLM, AGA, API, and GPA.
