World Pipelines,
Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, Essar Projects, has been awarded a contract for a 100 km pipeline by GSPL India Gasnet Ltd. (GIGL).
The project involves the laying of natural gas pipelines – with diameters ranging from 12 - 18 in. – between Jalandhar and Amritsar. This is a critical segment of GSPL India Gasnet Ltd's 2100 km Mehsana-Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar pipeline (MBJSPL) project.
GIGL was incorporated in 2011 as a special purpose vehicle to build the pipeline, and is promoted by Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL), along with Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum.
The Jalandhar-Amritsar section is among the three sections for which GIGL recently completed the tender evaluation process.
Mr Shiba Panda, Managing Director of Essar Projects, said: “We are proud to be associated with a project that is integral to building a countrywide gas pipeline grid for India.”
