FERC Energy Infrastructure Update for October 2014

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released its Energy Infrastructure Update for October 2014. The report notes that eight natural gas pipeline projects (total length: 1221.1 miles; total capacity: 9.565 billion ft3/d) were proposed in October 2014, while three were certificated (total length: 24.5 miles; total capacity 137 million ft3/d) and 14 were placed in service (total length: 207.8 miles; total capacity: 5.125 billion ft3/d).

Natural gas highlights

  • Texas Eastern received authorisation to place into service its TEAM 14 Project. This project will provide 600 million ft3/d of capacity and bi-directional flow along its system in PA to serve markets in the Northeast and Midwest.
  • NET Mexico received authorisation to place into service its border crossing facilities, which will provide 2.1 billion ft3/d of capacity to Mexico at the international boundary between the US and Mexico in Starr County, TX.
  • PennEast commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its PennEast Pipeline Project. This project will provide 1 billion ft3/d of capacity from producing areas in eastern PA to markets in PA and NJ.
  • Columbia Gas commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its Leach XPress Project, which will provide 1.5 billion ft3/d of capacity connecting its system in WV and OH to its system in central OH.
  • Venture Global commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its Calcasieu Pass LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, LA. This export terminal will have a deliverability of 1.4 billion ft3/d.
  • Mountain Valley commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its Mountain Valley Pipeline Project, which will provide 2 million ft3/d of capacity from northwest WV to southern VA.
  • Dominion commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its Supply Header Project. This project will provide 1.5 billion ft3/d of capacity for shippers including Atlantic Coast Pipeline from gas supply areas in OH, PA and WV to markets in the Southeast.
  • Atlantic Coast Pipeline commenced the Commission’s pre-filing process to construct and operate its Atlantic Coast Pipeline Project, which will provide 1.5 billion ft3/d of capacity from supply areas in WV to markets in VA and NC.
