SOCAR delegation pays a visit to Iran

SOCAR delegation, led by SOCAR’s first Vice President, academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade, paid a visit to Islamic Republic of Iran by invitation by the management of Iran’s Khazar Exploration and Production Company (KEPCO) on the 18 - 20th August.

The Azerbaijani delegation held meetings at the Petroleum Ministry and petroleum companies of Iran. During the meeting of Khoshbakht Yusifzade, First Deputy Petroleum Minister of Iran and General Director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Roknoddin Javad, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Ali Majid, and Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) for International Affairs Azizollah Ramezani, the sides discussed the state and prospects of the Azerbaijani-Iranian co-operation in the oil and gas sector, the opportunities in the field of oil and gas production, transportation and export of the parties, seasonal gas transit between the two countries.

In the meeting with the Azerbaijani delegates, KEPCO’s Chief Executive Officer Ali Osuli stated that his company is interested in co-operation with SOCAR in the Caspian. The parties also stressed the significance of expanding Azerbaijani-Iranian partnership in the Caspian Sea and in the international oil and gas projects.

The SOCAR delegation also familiarised itself with studies of Iranian scientists in the oil and gas industry and nanotechnologies in the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry in Tehran.

The event ended with signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran’s Khazar Exploration & Production Company (KEPCO) and SOCAR.
